You’ve probably heard us rave about Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn’s discovery of reversing heart disease. After 20 years of research, Dr. Esselstyn proved adapting to a plant-based and oil-free diet can stop and reverse heart disease.

With these findings, it’s more important than ever to incorporate vegetables and other nutritious plants into your daily diet and eliminate the need for greasy and oily foods. At Smile for Life Dental, Dr. Dean Lodding is a respected dentist in Elgin who emphasizes the importance of maintaining a healthy diet to protect your teeth’s health and overall health.

Joy Bauer provides countless amounts of recipes that focus not only your body’s health, but your teeth’s health as well. One recipe we especially like is the Veggie Tuna Salad. This zesty dish is packed with vegetable nutrients, is easy to make, and adds a kick to your taste buds.

Vegetables in the salad include:

  • Carrots
  • Celery leaves
  • Red peppers
  • Yellow peppers
  • Green onions
  • Spinach leaves
  • Tomatoes

Prepare this dish with a can of light tuna and flake small pieces of it into a bowl. Besides the spinach, mix all the vegetables with the flakes of tuna while adding ½ teaspoon of lemon juice. Next, place the spinach on the plate and put the rest of the tuna on top. There are many variations you can experiment with this healthy treat. In the meantime, chow down and enjoy!
